“One of my favourite rooms in the home to design are bathrooms. Whatever your style or the trend there are some basic elements that must be your first consideration when doing a refurb on this high engineering room…. here’s just a few

Storage, ok we all know we have too many “things” but the bathroom is defiantly a space that holds lots of beauty products, cleaning products and towels and not everything should be on display, so consider fitting a sink unit with pull out drawers or some recessed shelves in the shower walls, this  will help keep your space neat and give all your products a “home”.

Lighting is very important in a bathroom, not only to navigate the space by but also to add mood and decoration. Add in some pendant lights either side of a mirror or recessed lights in the shower, these can be switched independent to create another layer to your lighting plan and remember all lighting in a bathroom must have a suitable ip rating.

Finishes, Durability is very important when choosing finishes and materials for bathrooms but that doesn’t mean it all has to be tiled. Try mixing it up with wallpapers and panelling. Tiling only the floor and wet areas leaves the rest of the walls up for grabs. Have fun with highly patterned or textured wallpaper, this will not only assist is dampening the acoustics in the space and help make it feel cosier but will also add an element of fun and include colour and decoration to the space. There are so many to choose from, just make sure they are suitable for bathrooms.
